The Position

Barwon Health seeks a dynamic and innovative Chief Medical Officer/Executive Director Clinical Services (CMO) to drive best practice health services that are high quality, cost effective and responsive to government policy directions and community needs.

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the appointee will provide high level medical advice and support, with responsibility for clinical governance, professional standards, continuous quality improvement, patient safety and research as well as operational responsibility for pathology, imaging and pharmacy.

The successful candidate will be a highly credible leader and clinician with well-defined experience operating in a large and complex teaching hospital. With an engaging and involved leadership style, the CMO will have the ability to influence a diverse range of stakeholders and motivate and inspire a team to achieve the best outcomes. Experience in clinical strategy development and planning, project and risk management and continuous improvement processes will be essential.

Appropriate tertiary qualifications are required, ideally with RACMA accreditation.
